Stephen Shepherd, DDS


Dr. Stephen Shepherd attended Bucknell University in Pennsylvania, studying Biologic Science. He graduated from The University of Maryland Dental School in the top 10% of his class in 1981. He pursued advanced training, completing a general practice residency affiliated with The Medical College of Virginia. He then attended his Periodontics residency at The Los Angeles Veterans Medical Center, affiliated with UCLA. 

In 1984, Dr. Shepherd established his Periodontics practice in Tustin. Dr. Shepherd was one of the first surgical specialists in Orange County to perform dental implant surgery and he has placed over 10,000 implants.

Dr. Shepherd is a member of numerous dental associations, including The American Academy of Periodontics, The California Society of Periodontics, and The Western Society of Periodontics. Dr. Shepherd has published original research in the field of sedative anesthesia in The American Journal of Periodontology. He is also an examiner for The California Board of Dentistry for dental anesthesia.

Rebecca Hart, DDS

Dr. Rebecca Hart was born and raised in Laguna Hills, California.

After high school she moved to Tucson, Arizona where she attended the University of Arizona. She was on the Deans List and was recognized with Academic Distinction. Dr. Hart graduated with a Bachelors in Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences.

She earned her DDS from University of California, Los Angeles. While at UCLA, she was also on the Deans List and received the American Academy of Periodontology Dental Student Award In Recognition of Outstanding Achievements in Periodontology.

Dr. Hart completed a Periodontics residency at the West Los Angeles Veterans Hospital, affiliated with UCLA. She is experienced in all phases of periodontal therapy from diagnosis, treatment planning, and both surgical and non-surgical treatment modalities. She is also experienced in dental implant surgery, including bone and tissue grafting associated with implant treatment. Additionally, Dr. Hart is proficient in IV sedation.

She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology is a periodontist who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty. In addition to the educational requirements, Board certification requires comprehensive oral and written examinations covering all phases of periodontal disease and its treatment, including dental implants. By successfully completing the examination process she has earned one of the highest recognitions of achievement afforded by the specialty.
